Yearly “oops I forgot this existed again lol” blog post
It’s the yearly “oops I forgot I have a tilde.team account and an alternative blog here” blog post on my alternative blog 🙃
This alternative blog is where I am a little more open than usual. It feels like my main blog has a big spotlight, and so with this blog (which is also much less visibly linked) I can be a little more open, a little more vulnerable.
Unfortunately, this alternative blog is still publicly available, so I can’t just casually spill personal details and stuff.
However, I think I am starting to branch out in topics on my main blog now. Instead of strictly software related topics, I am including hardware sometimes, and sometimes even physical stuff happening in my life. This has been going on in the monthly status update blog posts I’ve been making almost monthly.
I’ve also been feeling… burnt out? Out of spoons? Just kind of bleh. That doesn’t really help. Not sure why it happened, or how long it exactly has been, or…
I don’t remember.
At some point in my life, I became noticeably bad at remembering. I remember not remembering things. And I don’t know why.
It does feel like a noticeable change. Before then, it was… whatever. Now it’s less. Now I have to rely more on explicit note taking and stuff.
I don’t really know what else to say about this.
I’ve been recently trying to find PC speakers or whatever, using it as a replacement for my monitor speakers, for when I can’t be bothered to use my headphones. I made a wiki page detailing my request for suggestions/info and have also posted on fedi, but I have literally not gotten like a single thing so far.
Maybe I should’ve promoted it on my blog or something like that. Though my blog isn’t the most popular thing either.
Anyways, I’ve been staring at soundbars (which are a great fit for “must not be too tall” because it will sit under my monitors, with very little vertical space, like 8 cm at best), and while I would’ve preferred the cheapest soundbar, I did not want to seriously compromise sound quality. Sound quality is kind of important to me, as the monitor sound has like, no bass at all, so replacing something subpar with something also subpar wouldn’t really be worth it. I’m also doing it because reliability reasons, because my monitor speakers only sometimes work, and making them work when it doesn’t work requires at minimum restarting my computer for some reason.
So I’ve started at looking at a somewhat higher price range. Still within the defined price limits, but the actual prices are like 5x higher than the cheap ones I’ve been looking at.
Yes, I’ve been looking at the reviews, the cheaper ones… seem to kinda lack bass. Something I don’t exactly want. Lmao.
I did once go into a physical store to test them, and I found only one matching the criteria of a “desktop soundbar”, but I forgot to bring a thing that would allow me to use the 3.5mm jack (like a USB-C to 3.5mm jack, or even an iPod). Oops. Oh well.
The search continues then.
